Marc Jacobs Spring-Summer 2009 Review

I reviewed the Marc Jacobs Spring show online and I found a slide show of some of the main fashions on the runway.
First there were many vintage-country inspired outfits. There were lots of pillbox hats, which looked very cute and chic. Also many of the girls were wearing plaid and gingham-checked shirts in various colors and patterns, which added to the vintage and country feel. Also on the runway were chunky pieces of jewelry such as a big necklace shown below and cute girly heels in several different colors and styles.
The main thing about this part of the show was that most of the outfits were tailored to the top half of your body. Basically the shirt was very done up and looked very nice, and that is what caught your eye, and it was very accessorized and patterned. The bottoms, such as a skirt or maybe pants, were more on the plain side so the look wasn’t too busy.

It seems to me that the next part of the show was inspired by the word “big”. The models were dressed in big patterns and big belts. They wore big hats and they carried big bags.
Many of the prints seemed to be foreign-looking, like one tunic that had an African feel to it. Another outfit had an oriental essence, with a big coat that had a butterfly/floral print. Both of these looks sound too busy and overwhelming, but it was easy to pull off by making one piece of clothing the main focus and the rest rather plain.

Last but not least came the Grecian-inspired dresses. Most of them were in soft colors like light pink or gray and had a very flowy appearance. Grecian dresses are very flattering and can look good on any figure. Add a cute belt, like the one below to accent your waist. An off-the-shoulder look always adds to the Grecian look and looks very chic!

So that’s it for the Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 show…be sure to check it out!
